Although the Acura NSX may not be seen on the roads often, you can always tell the true turbo addicts from the bolt-on intake and
exhaust tuners. Let’s face it, some tuners are just more serious about their tuning, while others just want to appear to be a tuner, kind of like how Tim’s 1997 Turbo Civic EK looked before he got his hands on it. This NSX is truly tuned to by an auto enthusiast and a turbo addict with its LoveFab turbo systems sponsor, along with it’s other sponsors, which are Exedy Racing Clutch, Changaroo Photography, BF Goodrich Tires, Superstar Customs, and Zymol.
Alex’s turbo NSX stood out to me once I saw the blurred background pic of his cruisin’ NSX. However, the main feature about his car that made his car perfect and unique, was his parts list. Everything he
used, he chose one brand and stuck with it. For example, LoveFab supported his car with the V-band turbo manifold, turbo system track, turbo oil lines, and also the car’s exhaust that has an adjustable tip feature, Tien for the wastegate and blow off valve, AEM intake, filter, Tru-Boost Controller gauge, fuel pressure gauge, and fuel pressure regulator, which is all hooked up to a 3.2L V6, 525 horsepower engine tuned with a Percision T4 turbo and intercooler and the transmission features an Exedy clutch and flywheel.
Sticking to the same brands and style is the perfect way to make a clean, well built car. Just think about it, every company tests and perfects their products to work well with other products. Why mix and match? It only leads to more customizing needed to be done in order to make things work right. However, that’s something this car has figured out – not only on the engine either…
For audio and video, he has a wide variety of JL Audio products, like
the 10″ Type X series subwoofer mounted by the passenger side by the feet, the CD/DVD Monitor head unit,
6-1/2″ touch screen monitor, 6-1/2″ Type X 2 way components, multimedia manager, and 500 watt 4 channel amplifier. All these features are spread throughout the car, giving Alex everything he needs to listen to a tune, watch movies, or mess with some other programs in his turbo NSX. The amplifier is mounted in the trunk, along with a custom enclosure made of fiberglass and plexiglass with LED lights.
Filling the space underneath the fenders are one of two sets on wheels,
which are the Technomagnisio 18’s wrapped in BF Goodrich KDW tires for racing, or the HP Design 18″ front, 19″ rear wheels wrapped in Cooper 2XS tires for show. For suspension, the Alex’s turbo NSX has a full Buddy Club Racing Spec damper coilover system with NSX-R front and top chassis reinforcement bars.
Something awesome Alex incorporated into his 2001 Acura NSX was JDM parts. JDM refers to the type of parts, the Japanese Domestic Model parts. These are used to remodel US cars to make them look JDM. For example, Alex incorporated a JDM “Honda” rear center piece, “H” Honda hood badge, “Honda” air
bag, rear valance kit, and a shift boot from the NSX-R. He got some JDM replica parts like the F1Spec carbon fiber NSX-R seats, Seibon NSX-R carbon fiber hood and rear spoiler, and NSX-R molded carpet and floor mats from MovIT USA. Along with the JDM exterior pieces, the turbo NSX has a Wings West front clip and sideskirts, completing the
cars features.
Of course, like all the other turbo addicts featured on TurboAddict.com, this is still a work in progress, but the next items on his list are front, rear, and interior Lipstick cameras. Of course this is a little “high end” type of car, meaning it is more expensive than most of us can afford, but to start off a new section such as Acura, we needed to have something to set the pace for the Acura section of TurboAddict.com, exactly like this car did with its turbo power, sexy looks, and solid upgrades.
